Astrology - an ancient science: a case study in the interpretation of drawings

Art historians are most accustomed to studying the meaning of works of art in finished works in which its expression is refined for a specific public. Preparatory drawings, however, present problems peculiar to their heuristic nature. Please return to this page in the near future for a discussion of the iconography of drawings through the example of a study by Parmigianino for his vault in S. Maria della Steccata, Parma.
